Independent oversight to protect your identity
My role as Identity Commissioner was demanded by Parliament as it felt that there was a need for independent oversight of the delivery of the National Identity Service, and the storage and uses of your identity information.
To help me to know what concerns people I will consult widely. I encourage anyone, who has a point to make, to contact me whatever views they hold. I plan to work openly and constructively with those responsible for delivery to make sure that I know what is going on. I will also work closely with other regulators. All this should ensure that I do the work that Parliament has set out for me. Through my reports the public will know how their identity information is being managed and used.
